The second edition of E-Commerce at the Zoo brings the northern Dutch e-commerce community to Wildlands on 8 October. This year’s theme is AI.

On Thursday 8 October, Memo hosts the second edition of E-Commerce at the Zoo in the Jungola area of Wildlands Adventure Zoo in Emmen. Memo is a Shopware partner and a Shopware United supporter. The evening is free, the theme is AI, and all three speakers come from the Shopware ecosystem.

Who it is for

The evening is aimed at webshop owners, e-commerce managers and marketing managers from the north of the Netherlands. The format is informal. Talks come first, then time to compare notes with peers who work in the same regional market.

What AI means for product data, performance and platform

Each talk takes one layer of a webshop and asks what AI changes there.

Product data, with Ergonode. Tomas Hesseling returns to the stage after speaking at the first edition. He shows how a PIM keeps product information structured and flexible, and how AI helps teams work with product data across languages and sales channels.

Performance, with RUMvision. Karlijn Löwik is CEO and co-founder of RUMvision, and she joins the programme for the first time. Her talk makes web performance accessible to people who are not developers. She shows how to ask questions of your own visitor data in plain language. She then covers linking those answers to marketing campaigns, GA4 analytics and business metrics. She also looks at how to make a webshop understandable to AI agents that recommend products. Her lens throughout is SUX (Sitespeed User Experience), which puts real, paying visitors at the centre.

Platform, with Shopware. Shopware speaks at the event and sponsors it this year, as Memo founder Johan Moormann announced on LinkedIn. The session details have not been published yet.

What the first edition set up

The first E-Commerce at the Zoo took place on 16 October 2025 in the same jungle setting. Memo’s event page collects feedback from that night. Tomas Hesseling describes an open, approachable atmosphere where speakers and guests talk with each other about the craft. Karlijn Löwik puts it more playfully: “In plaats van praten over API’s, sparren we een keer tussen de aapies”. Roughly translated, that means swapping talk of APIs for sparring among the apes. A local retailer, Juwelier Kremer Veendam, praised the quality of the speakers and said he plans to return.

Memo’s events at Wildlands go back further. In September 2023 it hosted Connecting Shopware with Alumio and Memo Data Connections at the zoo’s Arctic Science Lab, an evening of talks and networking for Shopware users.

Why regional events matter

E-Commerce at the Zoo gives the north its own meeting point, organized by a local agency. At one table sit a platform, a PIM vendor, a performance specialist and the merchants who use them. Shopware’s decision to both speak and sponsor this year shows that the platform values this kind of regional gathering.
